Paul Bettany Reveals Surprising Detail About Avengers: Infinity War

Paul Bettany, known for his role as Vision in the Marvel universe, recently shared that the scene of Vision’s death in Avengers: Infinity War was improvised. In an interview with Collider, Bettany disclosed that the scripted death sequence for Vision next to Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch was not working as intended, leading directors Joe and Anthony Russo to suggest improvisation for the scene.

Recalling the moment, Bettany said, “The Russo Brothers came up to us [Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen] and said, ‘Hey, listen, can you just improvise this scene?’ And I go, ‘What? Improvise being a robot getting killed?’ I’ve got no frame of reference! And Lizzie was just laughing at it, and we’re so relaxed with each other. I don’t know how it would’ve worked other than that, because we both really trust each other and, somehow, we got to something that worked.”

In the film, Scarlet Witch ultimately kills Vision in order to destroy the Mind Stone in his head before Thanos can obtain it. However, in a heartbreaking turn of events, Thanos uses the Time Stone to reverse this, bringing Vision back to life momentarily before eventually removing the stone and killing Vision once again.

Following Avengers: Infinity War, Bettany reprised his role as Vision in the television series WandaVision. He’s also set to portray Vision in another TV show titled Vision Quest.

Looking ahead, there is one Marvel movie scheduled for release in 2024, which is Deadpool 3. Additionally, Sony Pictures is gearing up for the release of Madame Web on February 14 and Venom 3 later this year.
