Barbie Will Best Harry Potter To Become Warner Bros. Biggest Movie Ever

It’s a Barbie world now, not a Wizarding World. That’s because the Margot Robbie-starring movie will overtake Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 as the biggest movie ever worldwide from Warner Bros. with an estimated haul of $1.34 billion.

Deadline reports Barbie only sits behind the eighth Potter film by $1 million, which it will easily rake in internationally today, August 28. And that’s not even counting the fact that revised weekend box office numbers could put the film over the top, too.

It's A Barbie World With 24 New Movie Posters

Earlier this month, Barbie beat Batman–specifically Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight–to become WB’s biggest film domestically. Barbie has also taken over the top spot at the US box office this year from The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

The records don’t stop there, either. Barbie director Greta Gerwig now holds the distinction of top-grossing movie in the US for a film helmed by a woman. It’s also likely Barbie will be WB’s first time having the biggest movie domestically in over a decade (the last time was 2011’s Deathly Hallows Part 2).

Barbie will be available digitally to watch from your couch September 5, with Blu-ray pre-orders now live, too. Meanwhile, the movie will start streaming on Max sometime this fall, though no specific date has been given.
